For the 2020 Application, we have decided to ask only one additional prompt.

We hope that will save you just a bit of time as you work through our application.

Essays are evaluated for both content and writing/grammatical skills.

So, before submitting your application, you should take the time to edit and review your essay thoroughly.

Explain your interest in the major you selected and describe how you have recently explored or developed this interest inside and/or outside the classroom.Included with the Common Application, Coalition Application, and Georgia Tech questions is one long essay and one short answer essay.The purpose of the essays is to assess your writing ability and, more importantly, to learn more about you as an individual.As you can see from the attributions, the questions below were inspired by submissions from UChicago students and alumni.How does the University of Chicago, as you know it now, satisfy your desire for a particular kind of learning, community, and future?You may include any majors or areas of study you're currently considering. If you select a second-choice major other than the Division of General Studies on your application, write a second essay explaining your interest in this major, too. The essay part of the application is important because it gives us more insight into who you are and who you want to be.
