The Six-Step method provides a focused procedure for the problem solving (PS) group.
Start breaking down the problem into subcomponents.
When you fix a symptom, the root problem doesn't go away--it simply manifests as a new symptom. At any point the group can return to an earlier step, and proceed from there. The revenue side breaks down further into price and volume issues. For example, your profit problem breaks down into revenue issues and cost issues.For example, once the real problem is identified – using “2.Determine the Root Cause(s) of the Problem”, the group may return to the first step to redefine the problem.
